If happiness is something that is supposed to be created from within a person, why then is it so difficult to be happy with ourselves? Often, the troubles with self happiness are the lower levels of self esteem that are housed within the mind. Our self concept is tainted and distorted to the point that we consistently assess ourselves and find faults in everything we do. Over a length of time, that tainted image becomes a reality to us.

There are other times in our lives when a fear of the unknown can take hold of us and push us into the realm of self doubt. The fear of failing, not becoming what we once dreamed we would and not attaining success all wreak havoc on the minds eye. When reading this sort of thought, it may sound preposterous, but it is a very real situation for many women.

Self-doubt and a fear to take risks may be all that stand between you and a happy, fulfilling life. Examine your thoughts and beliefs to find out what steps you need to take towards becoming a better you. There are several factors that comprise our entire self image and self […] Continue Reading…

Dioxin Levels Significantly Higher in Organic Milk

June 15th, 2008 · No Comments

by Russell Eaton

Dioxins are caused by incineration, traffic pollution, industrial waste emissions, fires, and many other chemical and industrial processes. Dioxins are known to be the most potent carcinogen ever tested.

Research clearly shows that dioxins cause many serious diseases such as a kidney disease, birth defects, premature death, and a whole range of cancers.

Dioxins are present everywhere because they get carried by wind, rain, weather patterns, rivers and ocean currents to all parts of the globe. When dioxins settle on pastures and plants, they form part of the food chain for animals and humans.

Dioxins do not come from pesticides or fertilizers - they come from the environment at large and even from the water supply. That is why dioxins are found in equal measure in organic and nonorganic food. But we can minimize the amount we get by avoiding certain foods high in dioxins.

Normally, our bodies cope with a low level of dioxins. Some dioxins get excreted instead of being absorbed into the body to cause illness. We can, to some extent reduce the amount of dioxins we get by avoiding foods high in dioxins.

So which food is highest in dioxins? Dairy […] Continue Reading…

Home Made Water Purifiers: A Cost Effective Solution?

June 15th, 2008 · No Comments

by Trent Barrett

A home made water purifier can be as simple as cloth tied around a water faucet, or as complex as a series of chemical filters put together for a large quantity of water to be run through them. Historically, the cloth was a typical solution, and even today in Africa, some tribeswomen are taught to pour fresh-drawn water through layers of cloth before using it to remove contaminants. The water at the end looks cleaner, and it does prevent some water-borne contaminants, like amoeba, it is very far from a good solution.

You’ll find many types of home made water purifier instructions online, from simple filters to systems that involve distillation of water. The truth is, there are some serious problems with the do-it-yourself approach when it comes to purification of water. That’s not good; improperly purified drinking water can harm your health and even kill you. While it’s laudable to want to save a little money by creating your own filters, you could be putting yourself and your family at risk by doing it.

One of the problems with home made water purifiers is that they don’t tell you when they are saturated with contaminants; on the other […] Continue Reading…

Milk increases chances of multiple birth

June 15th, 2008 · No Comments

by Russell Eaton

An American study shows that drinking milk increases the chances for women to have twin babies. A study published in the ‘Journal of Reproductive Medicine’ shows that compared to mothers who avoid milk, the milk consuming mothers have a 13% higher chance of a multiple birth! Vegan women were found to have a 20% less chance of having twins compared to milk-consuming women. (Mechanisms of Twinning: Effect of Diet and Heredity on the Human Twinning Rate, May 2006).

The study indicates that this is due to bovine IGF-1 (a bovine growth hormone present is all types of dairy milk). All recent studies show that IGF-1 is responsible for many types of cancer and other diseases in humans who consume milk on a regular basis.

Dr. Gary Steinman of the Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, USA, who conducted the study, took samples from more than 1000 vegetarian women. These women were shown to have five times less chances of having twins compared to non-vegetarian women. It seems that animal-product foodstuffs, especially dairy foods, can significantly increase the chances of having twins.

This theory is also supported by other research into traditional […] Continue Reading…

A life today is so very filled with the needs of the world that we often forget about what WE need. As parents, we are there to take note of our kids actions. As homeowners, we know exactly when the grass needs to be mowed. But, as people, we rarely take the time to look at the patterns we are creating within ourselves. The personal development of others seems to be easier to notice than our own personal development. As we age, we stop thinking about our own development and ten to allow our growth to whittle away.

Maintain a positive attitude. Greet each day with a smile and end each day with gratitude. Yes, life can be very challenging. A positive attitude cannot make the bad stuff go away, but it does change how you deal with it and help you find quicker resolve.
